WHEN YOU DRESS GOOD, YOU FEEL GOOD.
When you dress good, you feel good. It’s not about elitism or wealth. It's not having a certain amount of money to look a particular way. Feeling good is so important to how you portray yourself; it inspires the self-confidence required to build your unique persona.
There is a person in my life who has done nothing but judge others' appearance for my entire life, something I find incredibly hard to see and hear because it doesn't align with my values at all. How I see it, Dolls, is that dressing well isn't about acceptance from others but about the way in which you carry yourself in response to the feeling of putting effort into your fashion and style. Feeling good about these things allows you to feel better about yourself and your place in the world, something that can take years, even decades, to fully develop.
Believe me, I understand better than anyone struggling to accept and be proud of the feet that walk in your shoes.
An outfit is the first insight people have into your life when they meet you, the insight before you open your mouth and before you hold out your hand.
An outfit can say nothing at all, or it can say everything.
And if it says everything, you will feel as though the way the world perceives you is the way you hope to be perceived. A successful portrayal of self says that you feel worthy enough of confidence, respect, and honourability.
.
The feeling you have about the quality of your outfit is generated by the consequential feeling of other people noticing you. Others' perception of you is also a feeling within yourself. Compliments, glances, and comments are intertwined with your efforts and self-confidence, allowing you to continue to put effort into your outfits, to feel a sense of achievement, pride, reward, and success.
It's not just a feeling within yourself, but a feeling that others inspire in you.
Ways to add to an outfit
There are so many ways to turn an 'eh' outfit into an 'oh my god' outfit. To feel good, there are a million ways to dress good. Here are my hot tips:
Always add, add, add. Basic is so last year. Add a purse, add jewellery, add a fascinator; whatever you do, just add something. Don't add until you can't stop; it's not about that. I†'s about not underdoing something that should never be underdone.
Have a statement piece in one aspect of your outfit. It doesn't have to be an expensive dress; it can be shoes that have diamond detailing, a bow, or a heel. It's just something that stands out and has a 'wow factor'.
Colour coordination is everything. Avoid block colour clashing... When done well, it can look incredible, but trust me when I say that even the world's best designers fuck up block colour coordination, so if you think you can pull it off, you probably can't. I hate to be discouraging, but realism in the fashion industry is also an important consideration. Being understated in colour coordination is your safest bet, so with this component, be confident, not daring.
‘When you dress good, you feel good’ is something my grandma told me on the bottom floor of the DJ’s, trying on designer dresses and Jimmy Choo shoes. My grandma is the girly girl in my life, someone who tells me all there is to know about fashion. This post is dedicated to her, to us.
