MY INPATIENT BEAUTY ROUTINE

Dolls, inpatient is so hard, but taking the time to do a beauty routine every day has helped me to guarantee a moment of pleasure in my day.

I have a palette from Mecca that includes four shades of eyeshadow, a blush, a highlighter, and a bronzer. I always take that with me when I go inpatient, so that I'm reducing the volume of products I take with me and can pack light. It's simply perfect, and the limited amount of choice always leaves me able to establish a set look I'm going for, which can slightly differ for each admission. I struggle with indecisiveness, and so this palette allows for the removal of that struggle, replacing it with one of creativity, opportunity and fun.

Sometimes less really is more, Dolls.

I create a little beauty area in my bathroom dedicated to all things makeup. You could call it a station, but I prefer shrine because to me, beauty really is sacred. I make everything look organised and put together like the aesthetic photos I see on Pinterest, so that I feel like a true, organised Doll! It doesn't just help improve my mood, but it's the one little area of my life that I can rely on to make me happy every time I look at it, which is very important when so many aspects of your life, when inpatient, feel overwhelming, out of your control and messy.

Part of my beauty routine is (Duh!) my hair styling. I have four key things I do with my hair that I rotate between.

  1. Hair straightener

  2. Hair curler

  3. Aesthetic accessories

  4. Aesthetic claw clips

I love doing something with my hair, and on the days when I'm too tired or unbothered to completely straighten or curl my entire head, I love being able to put it up in an aesthetic claw clip or clip in a few cute accessories to make me feel as though I at least made an effort and feel pretty, even in a small way.

Dolls, that's my inpatient beauty routine. It's one I love and treasure because it's the only thing in an unnatural environment that feels natural, personal and, quite simply, fun. Not many things about the hospital come even close to fun, Dolls.

Kisses,
