FOREVER.

My Mum & I bought forever bracelets on the weekend. Forever bracelets are bracelets welded to fit your wrist, clasp-less. Forever bracelets are designed to be a little more meaningful than a regular bracelet, and to my mum and me, they are that and more.

For so long, I was afraid of, forever, disappointing my mum. But in my courage to expose all of me to her, I was faced with a reaction I wasn't prepared for... And that was one of endless acceptance. My mum is my rock, and I think when you become an adult and gain independence, in learning to support yourself, you can forget the beauty of depending on someone else.

It is so lovely to depend on someone who loves you.

And for me, that person who loves me more than anybody in the world is my mum. And for her, I hope she knows that I am the one who loves her more than anybody in the world.

My idea behind getting the forever bracelets stemmed from wanting our love to be symbolised so my mum could always remember just how close we are. I thought forever bracelets had the power to express how bound we are to one another, similar to rings in marriage.

Our love has no beginning. Our love has no end.

If we don't take the time to appreciate how exceptional it is to feel safe, adored, and respected, it's not difficult to fall into a loop of self-inflicted fear, hatred and insecurity. In doing this with my mum, I knew we were giving ourselves the opportunity to both express to one another that we would always be there, no matter how far away, how late, or how difficult. Because it should always be the easiest thing in the world to be everything and more for a parent, and for a child; an infinite, boundless, and unbreakable unconditional love.
