Oh, the beauty of finding a sense of enough in your truest self. I've put the 're' in brackets because I think most people with anorexia have never truly found their beauty. Most of us shrink ourselves because we feel more beautiful the less healthy we are. For some... for most, discovering a healthy beauty is something that's never been done. But there are so many exceptionally beautiful men and women in the world who are completely healthy - something anorexia LOVES to hide from its sufferers. This, Dolls, is how to discover your beauty at a healthy point and for those of you who once had that, here is how to rediscover it.
Being a woman is exceptionally beautiful. Our bodies were designed to be desirable for reproduction. There is a beauty laced within our features, something that exists only at a level of health. The sickness of anorexia manipulates that truth. It says that it's beautiful to be sick, starving, and extremely thin, when that just isn't the case.
It's not beautiful; it's actually incredibly concerning.
To rediscover a healthy beauty is to ignore that voice and to listen to the voices of real people who are allured by the function of a woman. Of course, our only purpose in life isn't to be beautiful; but my point is that when you want to feel beautiful, you have to remember that the beauty your chasing is a figment of your imagination and a sickly skewed portrayal of beauty by the media.
Part of being beautiful is being comfortable in who you are. Insecurity is not just something internal; it can be seen on the outside when it's deep-rooted through facial expressions, the way you walk, etc. Not being sick is beautiful because it shows that you can carry yourself without the weight of the world and its judgments on your shoulders. Outwardly portraying a freedom within yourself is knowing your self-worth and what you deserve. Rediscovering a healthy beauty is finding who you are, what type of person you want to be, what impact you want to make in the world and realising that those things are far more important than skinny ever will be.
(Re)discovering a healthy beauty is fundamental to feeling as though you’re part of the world and not on the outside. You will find that beautiful things unfold when you allow yourself to be worthy of inclusion, normality, and, of course, true beauty.
