Fashion Politics
When you combine fashion and politics, things start to get really interesting, Dolls. This blog post is aimed at unlocking the conversations about how power is increased within the world of fashion... What is fashionable? 'Fashion Politics' is everything controversial and more.
In my opinion, power in fashion isn't about quantity: how many figures you make, how grand your reputation is, or how many social media followers you have; it's about quality: how exceptional your ideas are, how bold your choices are, and how dedicated you are to your style and work.
Quality over quantity is perhaps the most fashionable measure of ability.
Backless
I love a backless top or dress. In fact, it's arguably my favourite fashion controversy. I suppose it's not overly controversial for the majority of the population, apart from those who claim it shows 'too much skin' when done poorly and lacking style and sophistication. For those who are severely underweight, like me, it can be confronting seeing so much back, which I've come to understand. That said, it doesn't stop me from wearing classy back outfits because I believe that fashion shouldn't pick and choose body types, which, as a society, we have done for centuries. I've had many people concerned about me, which is lovely and agreeable, and I've also had many people who appreciate the art of wearing a backless outfit.
I choose to focus on people who have supported me in navigating my way through my sense of fashion over the years.
Accessories
A handbag, sunglasses, jewellery... You name it, I'm OBSESSED, Dolls!
I love nothing more than accessories. I think that they perfectly complement any and every outfit. I truly believe that it's incredibly rare for the use of accessories to break an outfit and incredibly likely that their use will make an outfit. In my opinion, accessories done well show that you know what you're doing when assembling a perfect look: thinking of a bigger picture, adding flair and uniqueness, and being political about your fashion.
Bravery in fashion is incredibly important when you want to stand out, turn heads and vote pro-style.
Hair up/ down
Perhaps this one isn't controversial; however, it's certainly something that people tend to have strong preferences over. I know you were wondering… My preference for myself is hair down.
I think you're either a hair up person or a hair down person.
There is in between, but not much, Dolls. My hair is somewhat short, against my oh-so-desired will; however, my preference for hair down doesn’t change, as I love the way it frames my face. I don't think it's only about what you believe suits your face. I think it’s also what matches your personality and style. For example, my personality and style are all about daintiness, sweetness and classiness, so I think wearing my hair down supports these qualities. However, those who are more focused on portraying themselves as concealed, conservative, and professional seem to perfectly suit the hair-up look, in my opinion.
